As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you will join a worldwide network of diving professionals that strive to uphold the highest level of training and professionalism. We believe that good habits start at home and you will find this philosophy carried over in all components of both your IDC and your Instructor Exam. During this program you will be given the tools to succeed in the diving industry using the PADI system of diver education.

The diving industry however is more than just being a good diver and during this program you will cover aspects such as marketing and pricing to help you have the maximum impact on the industry when you start your career. The key to success is experience and education and we will be there with you every step of the way guiding your progress and making sure that you receive the best possible instruction from the right people. We will provide you with the opportunity to expand on your qualification after this program and help you achieve all the goals that you are aiming for.

As we have been in the diving industry for many years and have been managing dive centers for the past 15 years we know exactly what this industry is looking for in an Instructor. We will share this knowledge with you and help to ensure that you start your career in the front of the pack.

Instructor Development Course (IDC)

The PADI Instructor Development Course is your final stepping stone on the road to becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. During this program candidates learn to successfully use and adapt the PADI system of diver education, supported by the wide variety of PADI educational materials to suit individual student needs and ensure success and enjoyment. As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you are able to conduct a wide variety of PADI courses ranging from PADI Discover Scuba Diving to PADI Dive Master.

Requisites

1. Be certified as a PADI Dive Master (or PADI AI) or hold a leadership certification level with another recreational diving organization recognized by PADI.

An individual with leadership level certification with another diver training organization.

2. Be at least 18 years old.

3. Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past12 months. A licensed physician must sign the form and state that the candidate is fit for diving. The physician signing the form may not be the applicant.

4. Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least 60 open water scuba dives (100 dives to attend IE) and have documentation of experience in deep, night and navigation diving.

5. Submit proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.

6. Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization. (PADI Members who have these records on file at PADI do not need to resubmit.)

7. If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment.

Preparation for IDC

Prior to the start of the IDC, candidates have to complete the self-study portion in the IDC candidate workbook.

Preparation can be done individually, or 2-day pre IDC sessions can be scheduled. Arrangements have to be made at least a week before commencement of IDC.

  • Fins, Mask, Snorkel and appropriate exposure protection

  • Regulator with alternate air source and SPG
